5.3.1 Introduction

This standard defines two approaches to messages communicating Licence requests or intentions to use and messages communication the grant of Licences or confirmations for intentions to use as well as Licence revocations:

• Asymmetric where only the (prospective) Licensor needs to publish and maintain a Web Service and where the (prospective) Licensee will need call these Web Services and thus initiate the communication; and

• Symmetric where both the (prospective) Licensor and the (prospective) Licensee publish and maintain a Web Service.

They are described in the remaining sub-clause of Clause 5.3.
